Principal Pa‘akaula

Our po‘okumu attended Pū‘ōhala as a child. Makala Paʻakaula is the product of Castle Complex schools with a son at Castle High and another at Kahuku High and Intermediate. She worked for the DOE prior to our school. Po‘okumu Makala views her principalship as a chance to give back to the community, provide leadership that makes a difference and make student-centered decisions.
“I believe in the ripple effect and now I have greater impact on how far the ripples travel. It’s my kuleana.”

Our principal/po‘okumu plans to
•Bring cohesion among school programs including special education, HLIP and general education to intensify the focus on preparing students for productive, well-rounded and upstanding citizenship
•Engage students in higher levels of problem solving so they are equipped to resolve issues in the future.
